Garrison Keillor continues to be an embarrassment for the Democratic party

Some of you may remember Garrison Keillor's bizarre rants regarding the battle for Paul Wellstone's seat in the Senate. Well, he's not improved since then. The following transcript of a recent Prairie Home Companion is courtesy of a Powerline reader:

We're over it. We've moved on. We're just fine. The election was days ago. Days ago. Much has happened since then. We've practically forgotten about it here [laughter] in our rush to enter into new activities, new frontiers, new projects. I am now the chairman of a national campaign to pass a constitutional amendment to take the right to vote away from born-again Christians. [enthusiastic audience applause] Just a little project of mine. My feeling is that born-again people are citizens of heaven, that is where there citizenship is, [laughter] is in heaven, it's not here among us in America. If you feel that war in the Middle East is simply prophecy fulfilled, if you believe that tribulation and suffering are just the natural conditions of life, if you believe that higher education is vanity, unnecessary, there is only one book that one need to read, if you feel that unemployment is -[glitch]- dependent on him and drawn you closer to him. [laughter] If you feel -[glitch]- lousy healthcare is a portal to paradise, [applause] then you don't really share our same interests, do you? No, you do not.

Yep. The party of tolerance. That's what the Democrats are NOT.

You search for only that information that supports your pre-conceived ideas. That is morally and intellectually bankrupt. Your facile and ultimitely wrongheaded approach fails to take into account that 90% of your intended audience has no clue as to who Garrison Keillor is and would not understand what he was saying even if they did.
I'll tell you what. Just tell them that he's a "flip-flopper". They won't entirely comprehend the posting you put up but they'll know that calling it "flip-flopping" means it's not good and in their simple minds Keillor will be forever tainted. I know that you celebrate that ability to twist the simpler folk among us.

Hey, I know who Garrison Keillor is and I still can't understand a word he says. Between his mumbling delivery and his incoherent ranting, he is a fine example of the best the left can offer in defense of its ideals. (Note to self: 'Facile...' Gotta look that up.)

Lucy, my dear, that hole you're digging yourself into just keeps getting bigger. I post information that crosses my path, and that information creates my ideas about people like you, Michael Moore, Garrison Keillor, John Kerry, etc. You do it to yourselves.

That "90%" (a figure I'm sure you didn't just pull out of your behind, right?) of my "intended audience" - whatever that means - don't know who Keillor is means little. I'm sure 99.999999999999% of my intended audience don't know who Vicki P. (protecting her identity) is, but that doesn't take away from the loony liberal things she says and does. It's very clear what Keillor said and to what he is refering. His insults against Christians - specifically born-again Christians - is typical of liberals. We're the only class of people they don't include in their self-righteous, self-serving bellowings of "TOLERANCE!" Keillor may not be at the same level as Michael Moore, but he comes awfully close. I don't need to call him a "flip-flopper," either, because he's not. He's very straight-forward with his position and people can understand why I posted what I did without me telling them what to think.

The intolerant get no tolerance. Not from me. It is interesting that your perception is that I'm digging a hole for myself. You're the apostate Democrat who voted twice for Clinton. You're the poor , lost soul that lacks the courage of his convictions. My prediction is that at some point you'll abandon born-again Christianity and the right wing. Why do I think that? Because you've already shown yourself to be a flip-flopper.

"The intolerant get no tolerance. Not from me."

That's quite the duplicitous statement, Lucy. Of course, you are simply assuming that I'm "intolerant" with no evidence. (Sorry, but being a conservative Republican who voted for Bush is not evidence.) Well, admittedly, yes. I am intolerant. Everyone is about something or other. You yourself are intolerant, Lucy, as you just admitted. In fact, you are intolerant of "the intolerant." So you obviously don't tolerate yourself. What a strange life you must live because of that.

I tell ya. Give these liberals enough rope and they eventually hang themselves.

Oh, as for the rest of your comments:

That I turned my back on the Democratic party and haven't looked back shows that I have different convictions that I have quite a lot of courage to stick to, especially considering how unpopular those convictions are. And your cheap accusation of me being a "flip-flopper" (a term you don't even use properly) who will abandon my mature faith and convictions just goes to show how desperate you are for some meaningful, reasoned argument on which to cling. Sadly, the accusation is neither meaningful nor reasoned.

You've been crowing since 11/3 about W's "mandate" and how badly the left is beaten , then you irrationally retreat to the position that you are mentally strong for holding to your BAC and loony, paranoid rightist views. Another instance of flip-flop.

That made absolutely no sense whatsoever, Lucy. Oh, please. Don't try to deny it. Just admit that you know your ramblings are nonsensical and then let's move on, shall we?

Has Garrison ever explained why he came back from Denmark? Just a question...
