"Stormin'" Norm Coleman: "...and I'm all out of bubblegum"
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Saddam Hussein's regime reaped over $21 billion from kickbacks and smuggling before and during the now-defunct U.N. oil-for-food program, twice as much as previous estimates, according to a U.S. Senate probe on Monday.
The monies flowed between 1991 and 2003 through oil surcharges, kickbacks on civilian goods and smuggling directly to willing governments, Senate investigators said at a hearing.
"How was the world so blind to this massive amount of influence-peddling?" asked Republican Sen. Norm Coleman, head of the investigations subcommittee.
I'd like to take a moment to thank the Democrats for holding the "Paul Wellstone Memorial Political Rally" back in October 2002, which ensured Coleman a spot in the Senate.
BTW, for those not in the know, the "bubblegum" quote (the complete version is, "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @$$... and I'm all out of bubblegum") is from the movie "They Live," starring "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Horrible movie. Great line.

That was a horrible movie. When the star of the movie is a former professional wrassler, it has to be bad. (Has Jesse V. starred in any movies recently?)
It wasn't that bad as movies of the genre go. Besides, I'm not out of gum yet. (Black Jack Chewing Gum - yes, it's still out there)
