I always wondered what these were

Evan wrote about something today that I had always wondered about: "splogs" (i.e. spam blogs):
Spam blogs, sometimes called “splogs,” are phony blogs set up to earn money by displaying ads. Splogs steal content from other sites so that they appear to the untrained eye as genuine blogs. When people conduct web searches, that stolen content drives traffic to the site, raising the revenue from advertising.

I'd seen such blogs before, but never understood what they were about. Of course, I use Firefox with the Adblock and NoScript add-ons, so I usually don't see ads anywhere. They don't load, so that means that such "splogs" aren't getting a dime out of my visit. Bonus!
